Valentine’s Day is upon us. Chocolates, balloons, candy hearts and sweetness abounds. And roses are having their annual moment in the spotlight.
It’s true, roses are classic. And they’ve become the symbol for all things valentine. However, until recently I wasn’t the biggest fan of roses. They screamed cheesy and over used. And after smelling one too many bad rose hand soaps, the scent was borderline repugnant.
You know the fragrance? I’m sure you do. The kind of rose that smells less of English gardens and tea parties and more like a musty pair of gloves your grandma used to wear. Not good!
It wasn’t until I discovered product No.01 below, that roses began to open up my sensory world. Roses that smell like roses. What a concept!
So today, in honor of the day of love, and in praise of all things love + roses, I’ve rounded up a list of my favorite rose-scented products.
Jurlique Rose Hand Cream
A thick, rich, luxurious hand cream that changed the rose game for me. It’s rare to find me without a tube of this magical elixir in my bag. It is of great consistency, isn’t super greasy after applying and smells absolutely incredible. A must-have for your bedside table, office desk, you name it!
Heritage Rose Water Spray
Affordable and absolutely decadent. I spray this liberally over my face and neck every single morning, evening or when I need to feel refreshed. Living in the dry, hot climate of Southern California, this has been my saving grace (and is always in my purse, especially on flights).
Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant
I’ve been using this product for more than ten years and am now addicted to the scent. If you perspire a lot, this might not be the product for you, however it’s an excellent deodorant and filled with clean, natural ingredients (and the scent is pretty fantastic).
Bulgarian Rose Essential Oil from Mountain Rose Herbs
Not all essential oils are created equal. Mountain Rose Herbs sources some of the best oils from around the world and it is evident when you open the bottle. This is a pricey oil and for good reason. Did you know that it takes 10,000 lbs of rose petals to distil a single pound of essential oil? Rose is steam distilled to gently extract the precious oils from the petals. It’s a tedious method but produces the most pure oil possible. This is a great product to have on hand (to blend with other oils or to anoint yourself or your bath water.
Fig & Yarrow Organic Rose + Vanilla Tinted Lip Blush
I’m cheating a bit with this product since it’s not purely a rose product, but I couldn’t resist. I’m a big Fig & Yarrow fan. This tinted lip blush is the perfect shade for a hint of color on your lips and it smells edible. I especially love the tin packaging, which is a great size to throw in your pocket if you’re sans-bag.
REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Oil
REN can do no wrong. All of their products are beautiful, but this body oil is impeccably formulated and scented with just the right amount of rose to make it feel like the ultimate sensual indulgence.
U.S. Apothecary Rose Water Bubble Bath
There’s nothing that a hot bubble bath and some soothing tunes doesn’t solve. This blend of rose water bubbles takes your me-time to the next level. Plus the packaging is super adorable. Calgon take me away.
Skinny Skinny Organic Rose & Black Pepper Dry Shampoo
A dry shampoo with hints of rose? I’m sold! The black pepper adds a nice little spice to it. Great for those days when you want to smell fresh after the gym or between shampoo’s. It gives you a volume boost and is made with 100% organic natural ingredients.
In Fiore Queen Rose Attar Perfume Solid
It wouldn’t be a write-up about my favorite rose scented products without something from my friend Julie Elliott. Her scent blends are bar none, the best around. Her brand In Fiore has been a go-to in my medicine cabinet for more than a decade. The elegant and enchanting rose attar perfume solid is the ultimate way to anoint yourself each day upon rising and slumbering. It comes in a beautiful compact, making it the perfect gift (to give or receive).
What are your favorite rose products? I’d love to hear from you. Leave me a note in the comments below and share your favorites.
Love + Roses,
Stephanie
