In our weekend round-up, we focus on a curated selection of posts, for each of your six senses.
Plus a little bonus called DO GOOD. Because we believe in giving back and doing good. And there are so many great people + organizations out there, doing just that.
Miscellany.
Simple. Beautiful. Inspirational. And probably funny.
Grab a cup ‘o tea, a latte, or some other deliciousness and dig in.

I’ve always loved fashion. Since I was a kiddo. I begged to read copies of Seventeen so I could peruse the fashion spreads. I was first to hop on the Units trend and spent every last dollar of my allowance on a pair of Z Cavaricci’s.
These days my tastes are a bit more refined. And to be honest, safe. I yearn for the days when I used to mix patterns and bold colors, without a care in the world. I was aching to get out of safety zone when a sweet friend introduced me to Stitch Fix. I’m seriously enamored. How does it work? Essentially, you fill out an extensive style questionnaire and a stylist picks out a bunch of pieces for you and wraps it in a sweet box and sends it by magical post to your doorstep. You keep what you love and return the rest.
I got my first “fix” in July. It was filled with color and bold prints and amazing fitting pieces for me to try. I kept almost everything. I can’t recommend this service enough. Not only is it convenient for us busy ladies, it’s a great way to try new things!
I love going to the mailbox and seeing a surprise package with my name on it. And opening up the package, the faint hint of aroma emanating from the bag. Scent-ual gifts are simply my favorite. I recently was blessed to be given a beautiful aromatic mala set from The Mystic Masala (courtesy of one very generous + thoughtful woman). It is the epitome of the perfect gift for a spiritually minded friend. 108 perfectly selected rudraksha seeds (known to protect against negative energy) + a selection of stunning stones that bring love, compassion, inner peace and enhanced communication + a sweet crystal glass amulet to be filled with an aromatic blend of essential oils. I mean . . .
There’s Talk is a San Francisco based indie band that’s making some (beautiful) noise in the music scene lately. Their beautifully folk meets electronic sound is Dreamy with a capital D. Olivia’s voice is haunting and ethereal and absolutely magical to listen to. They just released their first live video which truly captures their sound. Put these guys on your “ones to watch” list (and check out more of their tunes here).
An adventure in gardening recently led to a most wondrous discovery, the Mimosa Pudica plant. This South/Central American native plant is known as the sensitive or sleepy plant. It’s also been referred to as shy and bashful. Why? Because, when you touch or blow or warm up the leaves, they quickly close up. I sat at the garden store playing with it for about an hour. Maybe it’s just me (and my inner kiddo), but this cool little plant isn’t only a great houseplant, but a fun party trick!
I haven’t been a drinker (of alcohol) in 5+ years. Yep. As in, I haven’t had more than a few sips in more than 5 years. Sadly, my body isn’t a fan of alcoholic beverages, wine, spirits, you name it. I’ve been fine with not drinking but recently, I’ve been wanting to dip my toe back into the wine game again. With the insane L.A. heat, a glass of white sauv blanc sounds like heaven in a glass. But it seems mighty wasteful to crack open a bottle of our good stuff, when I only drink the equivalent of a thimble full. Enter: Coravin – a genius gadget that allows you to keep the cork in the bottle, and avoid the process of oxidation by pouring as much (or as little) as you want. It’s absolutely a must if you’re a wine drinker!
Author, Travel Hacker and adventurer extraordinairre, Chris Guillebeau, has released a brand new book titled The Happiness of Pursuit. Last year as he was completing his own personal quest to visit every country in the world, Chris encountered numerous seemingly ordinary people, all working toward extraordinary goals. He made the direct link between questing and long-term happiness — how going after something in a methodical way enriches our lives. And thus, his new book was born. This is a handbook for making your life count. No matter the size or scope of the quest, we can all learn from the inspiring tales in this book. A must read!
I have Marie Forleo to thank for introducing me to Maysoon Zayid, comedian, actress and crusader. Her organization, Maysoon’s Kids helps children with disabilities living in Palestine have a place to play and go to school. Her own journey living with cerebral palsy and her incredible career as a comic and actor have helped her to become a visible and outspoken advocate. She’s feisty, tenacious and heart-centered. I adore her and I know you will to. Check out her interview with Marie + then head over to her website to find out more about what she’s up to.
