 SEE-David-Fincher-Ben-Affleck-GoneGirl-Gone-Girl-Movie-Films-TheGirlWhoKnows-mustsee

I’ve been hearing rave reviews from just about everyone about the new David Fincher directed GONE GIRL. So, tonight I’ll definitely be getting in line to see it. With a stellar cast (led by Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry), this gritty film (adapted from a best-selling novel) examines what happens when a wife goes missing and her husband becomes the prime suspect. From what I gather the film gets under your skin, with lots of unexpected twists + turns and is a true thriller in every sense of the word. With its portrayal of the modern day media circus, it’s also a rather overt social commentary on our culture and how tabloid obsessed we’ve become. I for one, can’t wait to see the film!

 SMELL-Scent-Palo-Santo-Floracopeia-oils-essentialoils-aromatics-fragrance

Essential oils are a staple in our home. I have different essences for different purposes. Lavender for relaxation, jasmine for feeling all sexy like, eucalyptus for head colds — you name it, I’ve probably got a bottle of it. It goes without saying I’ve tried loads of oils and so far the ones that I like the best, not only from a quality standpoint but also in terms of their ethics, sustainability and environmental consciousness, is Floracopeia. Right now, the Palo Santo oil is rocking my world. But I recommend picking your favorite scent and giving it a try! You won’t be disappointed.

HEAR-Tim-Gunn-ItGetsBetter-TheGirlWhoKnows-LGBTQ-Project-Runway

Most of us know Tim Gunn as the bookish, well-dressed, fashion mentor to Project Runway contestants. And yet, he’s remained somewhat of a mystery to me, staying rather out of the spotlight (all things considered). When I came across his moving video for the It Gets Better Campaign, I couldn’t believe my ears. It makes me so happy knowing how far Tim has come and so sad that so many LGBTQ kids still feel isolated and alone. Watch Tim’s story (click here or the image above) + find out how you can support It Gets Better, here.

I’m not much of a jewelry girl. That’s not to say that I don’t love jewelry, I do. But most of it is either too precious, not precious enough or just not my style. When I discovered The Good Girl Collective about a year ago, I was immediately smitten. The pieces are very much mystical and magical and bring together the elements of darkness and light. Each piece is hand-made in Los Angeles, and the crafts(woman)ship is incredible. I purchased the serpent ring and it fits like a glove. The weight of the gold combined with the beauty and energetic properites of quartz crystal — it’s perfection. Don one of these unique pieces and it will become a conversation starter for sure!

TASTE-Oil-Oregano-Health-Wellness-ColdSeason-Flu-TheGirlWhoKnows-herbs-natural-medicine

Cold and flu season is rapidly approaching. And even if you’re naturally immune to the array of seasonal illnesses, it’s always a good idea to boost your immune system before the germs hit. One of my favorite natural remedies is Oil of Oregano. Taken in either liquid or capsule form, this herb works wonders if you suffer from head colds, sinus infections and generally boosts your immune system and helps you fight off the bugs. It’s been my saviour and is definitely something to keep in your medicine cabinet, just in case!

FEEL-mark-nepo-book-of-awakening-healing-spirituality-books-self-help-personal-growth-the-girl-who-knows-senses-intuition

Whenever I want to get a dose of on-point soul wisdom I turn to The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo. I was recommended this book by a friend, years ago and it has proved to be one of my go-to resources. It’s helped me feel my way through death, grief and profound sadness. Equally, it’s helped me learn to be present with joy, fulfillment and deep gratitude. Mark’s writing is accessible and real. He weaves his own life experience into his daily lessons. This is the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. And is a great tool as you begin to deepen your awareness of and connection to your intuition.

DO-GOOD-Charity-1face-watches-give-back-thegirlwhoknows

1Face is probably one of the coolest companies I’ve come across in a long time (thanks to my sweet man for pointing me in their direction). 1Face has created a series of digital, touchscreen watches (that are even quite fashionble). Each watch is a different color and supports one of nine causes: cancer, hunger, breast cancer, clean water, disaster relief, environment, AIDS, education, and animal rights. The company partnered with different charities to bring awareness and global change. How much does each watch give back? This is the coolest part! Each cause has a specific metric that tells you exactly what your purchase does. From building wells to providing a year of education, or providing AIDS treatment for four patients. Spoiler alert: everyone I know is getting one of these for Christmas this year!
