2013 was a doozy (to put it mildly).
It was the year of the snake, which is my sign according to the Chinese Zodiac. And it was predicted to be a year of difficulty for those of us who share the sign. Lucky us!
In very snakelike fashion, the year was filled with a lot of sneaky surprises (not all good) and situations that at the time, felt like they might kill me with their poisonous venom. Honestly, it felt like Voldemort had dropped his pet Nagini off for a visit. A very, very long visit.
But interestingly at the end of the year, reflecting back on everything that happened, I was grateful and appreciative for the trials of 2013.
It felt like I had shed my skin and was preparing for a new chapter in life. I had renewed energy and a jet-pack filled with fuel. I was ready to rock ’n roll.
And then the new year came and went.
Along with it, a bout with the plague as I like to call it (i.e. the flu) and then a crap ton of mental gymnastics about what was next for The Girl Who Knows.
I love what I’ve created here. I love all of YOU.
And yet, I was feeling trapped by the direction the blog was heading in.
And so I stopped.
I flipped, flopped and flailed through the last few months.
Then thanks to MLK I remembered that I too have a dream!!
And I have readers who are eagerly awaiting my return (so I’d like to think).
It was time to re-enter the world of The Girl Who Knows.
Lord knows I’ve felt plenty guilty for not writing to you and for keeping you in the dark for so many months. Thank you for giving me the space to be silent.
To reflect and reframe what it is I’m doing here and more importantly, WHY I’m doing it.
Since it’s been a hot minute, I wanted to break the silence around my absence and share what’s been happening behind-the-scenes, plus give you a wee preview of things to come.
When I came out of my fog a few weeks ago I finally decided to reach out and ask for help.
I hired a new business strategist and coach who will be helping me with my long term vision for The Girl Who Knows. Later this month we’ll be bringing our minds together to conjure up some strategic plans in order to help me prioritize and get things done.
I’m REALLY good at visioning. Less good at getting it out of the clouds and into reality.
All I can say is, THANK GOD FOR COACHES.
I’ll finally have the digital lifestyle site that I’ve dreamed of. Can. Not. Wait!
If there are any topics you’re particularly keen on seeing here,
write me and let me know. I’d love to hear from you.
One big theme that has come up for me this year is connection. I’ve been craving more real world connection with you all. Face-time. Heart-to-heart. Conversation the way it was meant to be done: in person!
And so I’m planning on launching a series of pop-up events in cities ‘round the country (starting here in Los Angeles), that will be introvert/HSP friendly places to gather, commune, meet new people, meld minds, break bread and come away exploding with inspiration. Sounds perfect, no?
Again, I’m stoked.
Long term I’m planning workshops, retreats, more digital programs and products, custom curated travel resources, a beautiful online boutique with one-of-a-kind collaborations and a web series that will knock your jellies off.
Until now, all of this has only existed in my dreams. And I’m finally ready to bring it to life.
It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
For the next month or so, I’ll be posting somewhat sporadically, so please bear with me as I get back into my writing groove.
Having said that I do have a new GET TO KNOW interview for you tomorrow, with an amazing author and fellow filmmaker – you don’t want to miss it!
That’s my update for now. What have you been up to so far in 2014? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below. Tell me what you’ve been up to and one thing you’re looking forward to creating this year.
